Getting started in 5 steps1. Understand the Acceptable Use PolicyAs a Monash student you are granted a computer account, called an Authcate account. This is your main access to the university IT facilities. Access to your Authcate account is subject to the Acceptable Use of Information Technology Facilities by Students policy. You will be asked to read and agree to the terms and conditions of this policy while setting up your account. Failure to comply may result in disciplinary action. Get your Authcate computer account online by going to: www.its.monash.edu.au/students/ and selecting the 'Register for a new account' link. 2. Access your emailAccess to email is available via your Monash Authcate account. You will be able to access your Monash emails from an internet connection anywhere in the world. 3. Check out the labs and internet servicesMonash provides a range of electronic and online resources for students. These include on-campus computer labs, some of which have 24-hour access (registration required), while remote access to the Monash network is available to all Monash staff and students. Wireless network access is also available from many locations on campus. 4. Use your my.monash portalThe university-wide intranet portal, called my.monash, provides all on and off campus students with a gateway to Monash’s online resources, including lectures, study timetables, library resources and email. Go to: my.monash.edu.au to login. 5. Find an ITS Service DeskMonash provides IT help facilities through the web, by phone and face-to-face Service Desks on each campus.
