Staff Intranet

The staff intranet proof of concept, delivered in April 2008, realised the vision articulated in the Monash Web Strategy. Now intranets manage content within the CMS, provide an authoritative source; publish internal content to a new secure intranet location; and provide views of this intranet content within the my.monash portal, ensuring staff see content that is relevant to their role, tasks and needs.

The broad aim of this “phase 2” intranet project is to undertake the preparatory work to ensure ITS is able to respond in a professional and timely manner to requests from business units for an intranet via a my.monash presence, and to deliver a robust and usable Monash staff intranet.

Specifically this project needs to:

1. establish appropriate governance for the Monash-wide staff intranet
2. develop the high-level information architecture and look and feel of the staff intranet
3. deploy a Monash-wide staff intranet
4. consolidate technical architecture (including intranet servers)
5. develop intranet implementation framework to assist organisational units to develop intranets integrated with my.monash.

Currently this project is operationally funded, drawing on resources within FLT and the Web Centre, additional funding will be sought as planning progresses.
