About teleconferencing

Teleconferencing is the use of audio and/or video communication technologies between multiple participants and locations. Teleconferences include:

Teleconferences can include multiple parties both internal to and external to Monash University. All Monash campuses have a range of video and telephone conference facilities. Mixed conferences, where some parties use video and others use telephones are also available.

Depending on your preferences, teleconferences can be setup to operate in:

Single and periodic recurring bookings can also be made.

Note: Teleconferences that include mobile phones are generally unsatisfactory due to the poor audio quality of mobile phone services. [More...]

How to set up a teleconference

  • Contact the Switchboard on extension 54008 or +61 3 990 54008 from outside the University.
  • For video conferences or mixed conferences that include both telephone and video participants, contact Video Conference Services.

Things you can do

  • You can setup small telephone conferences directly yourself using your University telephone (PABX or VoIP phone, but not mobile phone)
  • Read how you can help make your conference a success
  • Borrow an audio or video conference appliance
  • Purchase an audio or video conference appliance
  • Use a PC - Teleconferences can include participants using their PC or laptop, using the University supported Polycom PVX software.
  • Check the time in another country.
  • Teleconference sessions can be recorded on request. Sessions are never recorded by default.
