Unwanted/Unsolicited Email or Spam
Everyone who has an email address accessible to the internet is susceptible to spam. There are many ways for irresponsible people to obtain the email addresses of others and it is difficult to know how our email addresses are obtained and then targeted.
What is Monash University doing to reduce Spam?
Monash University is undertaking several measures to reduce spam. Emails with an extremely high spam probability are discarded. Emails that are discarded are not retrievable and this setting cannot be changed.
Spam emails which were not discarded, are by default filtered to a 'spam' folder in your staff email account. To prevent the build up of spam emails within your account, emails in the 'spam' folder are automatically removed if they are older than 30 days (by default).
Staff can modify their spam filter settings by using the spam filter management tool
